We spent from December 14 until December 18, 2019 in Barcelona.  We toured the city via the Hop-On-Hop_Off  bus. We also, visited the Picasso Museum, Monserrat and the Oller del Was winery.  We  were able to take several breaks to sample the Barcelona cuisine.

While in Barcelona we stayed at the Hotel 1898 on La Rambla.  We highly recommend this facility.  The folks at the front desk took care of all of needs., including answering our unending questions.

They arranged tickets for the tour bus and the Picasso Museum.  They also arranged to have a bottle of Champaign waiting in our room on Chris' birthday.

Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus

The main location of the Hop-On-Hop-Off  tour bus was at the Place Catalunya which was a short walk from our hotel.

Sagrada Familia

This basilica was designed by Antoni Gaudi.  Groundbreaking was March 19, 1882.  It was due to be completed in 2026 but due to Covid-19 it has been indefinitely delayed.

Other Sites along our Route

TORRE GLORIES - An office building in the tech center
ARCO DE TRIUNFO DE BARCELONA - This triumphal arch was built as the main entrance to the 1888 Barcelona Worlds Fair.
COLUMBUS MONUMENT- Dedicated to Christopher Columbus

Picasso Museum

It was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel to the museum in the Gothic Quarters.  All along the streets were amazing shops, restaurants and neat little alleys.

The museum was well worth the walk.

Barcelona Cusine

At Bar Lobo we has mussels and some interesting but really good fajitas.
We had dinner and a beer at La Cala.  The main course was a seafood paella. WOW!
