Monument Valley
Monument Valley or Tse' Bii' Ndzisgaii, which means valley of the rocks in Navajo, is a Navajo Tribal Park on the Utah/Arizona border. It is an area of spectacular sandstone buttes and formations. The park has a very rough, public access 19 mile dirt road. Much of the park is accessible only with a guide.
We, along with another photographer, hired a Navajo guide for a sunrise/sunset tour and we were quite pleased. We met our guide a 4:45am for the sunrise portion of the tour. This part lasted until 9:00am. The sunset portion of the tour started at 4:00pm and lasted until 9:00pm. We had some clouds in the morning and quite a sandstorm in the afternoon, but we were still able to get many photo ops.
Below is a slide show of our day from sunrise to sunset.
