Palo Duro Canyon State Park
For quite some time we've wanted to visit this park. It is the second only to Grand Canyon as the largest canyon in the United States. A unique aspect is that you can drive to the bottom of this canyon. It is located about 30 miles from Amarillo. We visited in late May. The temperature was already in the 90's.
The first photo, taken from the rim of the canyon, shows the road at the bottom. The second photo, taken from 3 miles away, shows the Lighthouse Formation, a national natural landmark.
The other shots were taken along the 6 mile paved road.
