Whidbey Island

After a full couple of days in Seattle, we were off to our Burlington, WA hotel for the rest of our visit to the great Northwest.  On our way we took a ferry from Mukilteo to Whidbey Island.  At left is the Mukilteo lighthouse with the ferry in the background.

After a nice lunch in Oak Harbor, our next stop was at Deception Pass.  Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island.  It connects Puget Sound with the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Below our some of our images from Deception Pass State Park and the area near the pass.

At the state park, we took a short hike through the woods to a beach area below the bridge.  During our visit there was a tree climbing contest taking place.  No one climbed while we were there.  An offer for us to climb was not accepted.
