Wood Islands Ferry

Posted on August 23rd, 2011

We had arrived on Prince Edward Island acroos the Confederation Bridge. As we were crossing we saw the signs that the toll was $43. We gathered up what Canadian money we had left after 5 days in Canada and had just enough to cover the toll. At the end of the bridge we saw no collection station. As drove to our hotel we wondered how we were supposed to pay this toll. Later we found out that they only collect the toll as you leave the island.

We left the island via the Wood Islands to Caribou, NS ferry. We had made our ferry ride reservations on the internet for a 9:30am departure. Not wanting to chance missing our ride we got to the terminal 2 hours early. In fact, we were so early that they put us on the 8am ferry. The smooth crossing took about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We had a full breakfast on the ferry. The photo shows a ferry going to PEI from the deck of our ferry.
